TRAVEL AT KOH PHANGAN

We often present the original destinations of Bangkok and surroundings as from the North of Thailand, cultural places, temples, jungle, but our tour operator can also book some travels to allow you to relax in the islands and white sand beaches. We mostly recommend a visit to the North, and then spend the rest of time in relaxation mode to the South. I will not bother you with the history of the island, although I'm passionate about important dates and events. Our little trip to Koh Phangan had another mission.

A preserved paradise

Much of the natural beauty of the island that attracts tourists in Koh Phangan is still intact. Koh Phangan (pronounced pha-ngan) has a name that is not easy for visitors who want to pronounce it correctly, but it is certainly one of the most famous islands of the Kingdom, thanks in large part to its legendary Full Moon Party, celebrated as one of the craziest party in the world.

However, Koh Phangan has a lot more to offer than this fullmoon/halfmoon/blackmoon-linked party and all other regular crazy parties. Let's begin with the first thing that all visitors are expecting from a tropical island : the sand. Out of Hat Rin on the South-East, thhe place hosting the Full Moon Party, Koh Phangan owns nearly 30 other plages, many of them are still in a near-virgin state, especially those on the coast going back to the remote northern location.

Their wild state can be attributed to the fact that much of the island is a protected area, such as the National Park Namtok Than Sadet. With such flora backup Koh Phangan massive development of unique benefit of tourism is an important matter. The island is also blessed with mountains covered with forests that are home to many natural attractions, such as hiking trails, scenic lookouts and waterfalls.

The park was named after one of his many falls which was the favorite of King Chulalongkorn highly revered (Rama V). This monarch visited Koh Phangan 14 times during his long reign, which lasted from 1868 to 1910. He and his management have always made a stop at the waterfall Than Sadet on the East coast of the island, to relax, bathing and regenerate fresh water reserves for the ship which had led to the South.

It is obvious that the inhabitants of the island are very proud of these ancient and numerous visits to their homes often seen a portrait of King Chulalongkorn placed next to the current monarch, the two images occupy a high position signifying respect for both men. It should be noted that traditional housing and coconut plantations are still common sights on the island, even along the main roads. While tourism now undoubtedly plays an important role in the local economy, some families still adhere to most of the old ways.

In the village of Chaloklum, North of the island, for example, fishermen are still very active, their daily catch is to feed the family and restaurants across the island. To meet the needs of tourists, restaurants, resorts a variety of service have emerged on the island in recent decades. New attractions such as the pedestrian street on Saturday at Thong Sala, weekly market in different streets with food stalls, local produce, crafts, art, souvenirs and others are usually present for sale . This allows the islanders not only to generate some extra earnings, but also to encourage them to maintain their living cultural heritage.

This week it is very likely that the pedestrian and Tha Sla area where are located the main pillars of the island are in filled with tourists who flock to the Full Moon Party.

Some former Islanders found that it has changed over time, it is no exaggeration to say that in general the island looks like its neighbor Koh Samui but like 20 years ago. We hope that the forthcoming opening of the airport on the island do not change too much the harmony of this peaceful island.

If you want to enjoy Koh Phangan after your private tour to the North or simply add it to your tour program from Koh Samui, do not hesitate to contact our tour operator.
