HOUSE OF MUSEUMS - BANGKOK

We were all nostalgic one day about a place, person or object. Just a little something like a smell or melody note for your thoughts fly and make you recall the good times. There is a place in Bangkok that will make you vibrate, window after window, object after object.

The House of Museums in Bangkok has nothing of a national museum or a majestic building full of pottery, painting, sculpture. It is very humble and much more fun! None of the objects does not have a huge financial or historical value, but many of them means a lot for visitors. The House Museum is a private collection of thousands of objects and consumer goods dating sixties and beyond. Imagine a three-floors store just there to awaken your memories. That's happiness!

Located at the most unlikely remote location halfway between Bangkok and Nakhon Pathom, The House of Museums Bangkok would be difficult to find without Google Map. It's so hidden after a series of small streets, as if the owner wanted to offer access only to those who really made the effort to find it.

The museum is privately owned and is still growing ... it's really a cute "bric-a-brac". Each floor is dedicated to a collection. In simple words or emotions I will try to describe this little wonder.

The first floor is dedicated to toys mostly tin toys, candy, drinks and older drugs. Everything looks so old, but some things still used today. An entire room looks like a pharmacy with dozens of wooden drawers and go as you can "contemple" the old dentist room. Your children or grandchildren will understand after seeing the tools, that they have a lot of chance to live today.

The second floor is about the electronic revolution, that will certainly make you laugh if you have more than 40 years. You go find the things that you used as a child and some of you even going to be proud of. Televisions, old radios, vinyl records, the first copy machine, typewriters ... a mini-movie theater and excellent hairdresser. Between the dentist chair and the barber, it's almost the same thing.

The floor above shows a small classroom and a former fashion office.

For the rest, we let you discover during your next visit to Bangkok.
