Exploring the klongs

Mahasawat is only about 50 kms from Bangkok in Nakhon Pathom Province, near to Mahidol University’s Salaya Campus. The Province of Nakhon Pathom is criss-crossed by many canals (klongs) and irrigation ditches. Mahasawat is built along one of these canals which is the life source of the community, and for many, the only way of commuting.

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market

The most famous of the floating markets of Bangkok is Damnoen Saduak, about 100 kilometers southwest of Bangkok. This buzzing market is at its best in the early morning before the crowds arrive and the heat of the day builds up.

During this typical tour, you will travel around the Old Bangkok, a district on the middle of the Siamese China Town; you will walk through the walkways of the flowers and the Thai amulets markets; you will visit the house of Jim Thompson, etc.

The Jim Thompson House is the home of James H.W. Thompson, a self-made American entrepreneur who was the founder of the world renowned Jim Thompson Thai Silk Company. Thompson's achievements during his 25 year stay in the Kingdom of Thailand have won him much fame as the "Legendary American of Thailand".

Ayutthaya

Founded 1350, Ayutthaya became the second Siamese capital after Sukhothai. It was destroyed by the Burmese in the eighteenth century. Its remains, characterized by the prang or reliquary towers and the gigantic monasteries, give an idea of its past splendor.

Lopburi

Lopburi was one of the centers of the Dvaravati culture. She then came under Khmer domination at the time of the kingdom of Lavo, and was the second capital of the Kingdom of Ayutthaya in Narai the Great (Ramathibodi III reign 1657-1688). He built a large palatial assembly, the King Narai's Palace, which is now a museum.

 Sukhothai  Lampang  Chiang Mai 


Sukhothai

Sukhothai was the first capital of Siam founded in 1238 and ending the Khmer kingdom of Angkor Wat. Sukhothai was listed in 1991 as a World Heritage of Humanity. It is more famous for his art than for his political achievements.

Wat Sri Chum

Known as the temple of the bodhi tree, Wat Si Chum was built in circa 13th Buddhist century. The highlight is the graceful Buddha sculpture enshrined inside the remaining structure of the square mandala building. Located 1,500 meters from the north of the WatMahathat, Wat Si Chum is surrounded with the long moat acting like a boundary.

Doi Suthep

The Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is a Buddhist temple in Chiang Mai province, Thailand. It is often referred to as Doi Suthep although this is actually the name of the mountain on which it is located. Located 13 kilometers north of the city of Chiang Mai, it is a sacred site for the Thais. From the temple, you will have an impressive view of the city of Chiang Mai.
